Two different boats were saved in San Carlos by the cruisers in the bay in the last 5 weeks. It's amazing what a few dinghies full of sailors can do for each other. Great job doing what you did.

By the way, it is 85 in Bellingham, cold at night, and people are complaining about the heat.Casey s/v Dawn Treadernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571147692199175550.post-32828978349864537402014-07-30T07:12:41.652-06:002014-07-30T07:12:41.652-06:00A couple of years ago in Key West my husband and I...A couple of years ago in Key West my husband and I watched a power boat spend hours and hours, over two days, attempting to pull a grounded sailboat off of an extremely shallow reef. They never did succeed, but we we were amazed at how much battering and grinding the boat could take as the power boat rocked and slid the boat back and forth on its side.Susanhttp://seabrooksailing.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571147692199175550.post-58157662509742527272014-07-29T11:59:04.077-06:002014-07-29T11:59:04.077-06:00This is so sad.

But the damage to the hull and keel was deemed extensive and the cost of repair and the cost of recovery (several pangas wouldn't have cut it, a much larger powerboat would have had to have been brought up to pull it off--and would likely have caused further damage--then a 60-mile tow would be necessary) combined would have exceeded the value of this boat. For these reasons, the owner decided to abandon it, salvaging what he could from the vessel.Michael Robertsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15359487055197866481noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571147692199175550.post-43646070371515571262014-07-29T09:30:46.440-06:002014-07-29T09:30:46.440-06:00Was pulling this sucker off the rocks an absolute ...Was pulling this sucker off the rocks an absolute impossibility.
