In the racing circuit it is even worse than cruising. In the 80s, our boat was irresponsibly light and fast. Now, we can't enter many regattas since we are too slow. <br /><br />It makes sense that as the cost of entry for cruisers drops, more will cruise. The cost of the boat used to be the biggest hurdle.
